Don’t spin your wheels and stress. Take a deep breath, center yourself and make a plan. Douglas Adams
The breath is always there for us. Whether we notice it or not, it flows and sustains our basic need for air to survive. What happens when the breath follows the anxiety, stress, worry? The breath becomes erratic, irregular and shallow. What happens when we have thoughts and beliefs and we’re stuck in our head? Our breath can become suppressed, small, pinch, or tight.
I’ve met people who are afraid to take a deep breath because they feel like if they relax they’re doing something wrong; people chronically holding their breath waiting for the next terrible thing to happen, or waiting for their life to begin; those who draw in a pencil sized stream of air holding resentment and anger ready to pounce on anything that isn’t satisfactory.
Whatever is going on with you today, notice how the air flows in you. Where the air goes and what is happening with each breath. Just notice and see what you find. See if you can separate from the mental and emotional rules manipulating your flow of breath.
Be with the flow of your breath in today’s tapping challenge: Noticing the Air.
Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. Oprah Winfrey
