When we tap on the meridian end points in our body while letting our body feel all the stress and worry and frantic impulses we validate our pain and struggle opening up to relaxing into something different. Choice. We come to the present and choose how we want to be and feel and what we will do instead of surfing the constant waves of reacting through coping, habit, and never finding the power to change all the stimulus pressing on us.
While you tap you can lower the stress hormones, allow deeper breath, and calm your nervous system. This opens the possibility to regain blood flow to your prefrontal cortex (front region of your brain) where executive function helps you plan, organize, and be the best problem solver in the present moment. When we‘re stressed and panicky we are never using this area well.
If no one has told you today, you are amazing. You’re a collection of tiny particles that have come together in an irreplaceable, unique version of life. You’re a wonder and a miracle. There are broken parts in each of us, and a tremendous structure we’ve created to cope and yet we still accomplish so much in our lives even though a large percentage of our energy is used just managing all the hurts, disappointments, concerns, dreams, and the never-ending todos. Take a second to think about that . . . You’re incredible.
